Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message

Dear Families,

As we approach the festive break, I am delighted to share some very special news from our Muriel Green community. We are overjoyed to announce the arrival of two beautiful new additions: huge congratulations to Chloe on the birth of her baby boy, Archer, and to Sam on the arrival of her gorgeous baby girl, Mackenzie. Both families are doing well, and we send them all our love at this wonderful time.

This week, our whole setting Christmas dinner was a truly joyful occasion. Seeing the children and team together, enjoying a festive meal, was heart warming, and a lovely reminder of the strong sense of togetherness we share at Muriel Green.

A special highlight was the Nursery School’s Christmas performance. The children sang their hearts out to a packed audience of parents and carers, filling the hall with festive cheer and creating magical memories for us all. Thank you to everyone who came to support and celebrate – your presence means so much to the children and our team.

As always, thank you for being an important part of the Muriel Green family. Wishing you all a restful weekend and a joyful lead-up to the holidays.

Success Story of the Week!

This week has been full of festive success and lovely learning across Nursery.

In Conker Room, the children used oats to make their own reindeer food to take home. They carefully scooped, poured and mixed, building their fine motor skills and early maths language, while talking excitedly about Santa and his reindeer (Physical Development, Communication and Language, Understanding the World). They also really enjoyed exploring printing with different media, experimenting with colours and patterns (Expressive Arts and Design).

In Willow, the children had great fun exploring colourful slime. They investigated its texture, talked about how it felt and moved, and used tools to stretch, squeeze and stir, supporting language, curiosity and sensory play (Understanding the World, CL, PD). There was also lots of rich “learning through play” happening across the room, with children engaging in role play, construction and small-world activities.

Nursery School also went on their annual visit to the Abbey. The children listened carefully to a Christmas story, had the chance to try on costumes and looked closely at special Christmas resources. This visit helped them to learn about traditions and special places in our community, as well as practise listening, turn-taking and showing respect in a new environment (Understanding the World, PSED, Communication and Language).

It has been a wonderful week of festive fun and meaningful learning for all our children.
