Head of school message
It has been another busy and happy week at Muriel Green, with lots of wonderful learning happening across the nursery. A particular highlight this week was our Nursery School children taking their learning beyond the nursery gates and visiting the local market to buy bread as part of their work around The Little Red Hen. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to bring their story learning to life, experience their local community and, of course, choose some bread to bring back and enjoy together!
These simple, real-life experiences are such an important part of learning at Muriel Green, helping children to make connections between the stories we share, the world around them and their own experiences. We are already looking forward to seeing where our learning takes us next!
A Big thank you to everyone we smashed our target for Macmillan this years.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

Success Story of the Week!
This week in Conker Room, we have been focusing on activities that support the development of early writing skills, particularly shoulder stability, which is an important foundation for fine motor development. Strong shoulder muscles help children hold their arms steady while moving their wrists, hands, and fingers independently, making future mark-making and writing tasks easier.
To make learning fun and engaging, we transformed our writing area by moving it underneath the table! The children enjoyed exploring this new environment and were excited to make marks while lying on the floor. An adult led the activity using The Wheels on the Bus song, encouraging children to make marks up and down, side to side, and round and round to match the actions in the song. The children eagerly joined in, copied the movements, sang along, and took turns choosing different parts of the song.
This activity supported several areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including Physical Development through strengthening shoulder and arm muscles, Communication and Language through singing and sharing ideas, Literacy through early mark-making experiences, Expressive Arts and Design through creative exploration, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development as children took turns and worked alongside their friends. The children also developed their spatial awareness as they carefully moved around the space. It was a wonderful example of how meaningful learning can happen through play and exploration while the children simply saw it as fun!

sign of the Week

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
