Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful World Book 'Week' we have had at Muriel Green Nursery! The children have been absolutely delighted by the many secret storytellers who visited us this week, we even had a fancy dressed storyteller! Hearing familiar and new stories, told with such warmth and enthusiasm, has truly helped to create those ‘wow’ moments and spark a love for reading in every child. Thank you so much to all of you who took the time out of your busy days to come in and read to our children , your involvement means so much to us, and your support helps build our strong and caring nursery community.
On a separate note, we would like to remind everyone about parking in the nursery car park. Please could we ask that the disabled parking spaces are only used by families who genuinely need them, as we have several children with a range of disabilities that require close access to our building. It’s important that these spaces are always available for those who need them most. We also kindly remind parents and carers that the car park is strictly for dropping off and picking up your children. If you are leaving the site for any longer period, please do not leave your car in the car park, as this limits space for others and can create difficulties during our busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Thank you again for your support, consideration and for making our nursery such a welcoming, inclusive place!

Birch Room
Book & Rhyme of the week
Focus Skill:
We are focusing on fine motor skills and mark making, supporting hand control, imitation, patience, perseverance and extending preferred skills through playful exploration.
Ideas for Home:
Encourage your child to use their hands in small, purposeful ways – drawing lines, making marks with crayons or playing with small objects. Repeating simple actions helps build control and confidence. Celebrate effort and persistence, and try activities that extend what they already enjoy to help develop new skills.
Rhyme of the Week: A Sailor went to sea
A Sailor Went to Sea – Children will explore the rhyme with simple actions and repetitive movements, helping them engage with the song and build confidence in joining in.

Success Story of the Week!
This week in Birch Room the children explored a variety of different coloured peppers during snack time. The children were encouraged to look closely at the peppers and explore their shape, texture, colour and smell.
Adults supported this experience by modelling simple key words such as red, green, yellow, crunchy, smooth, and pepper to help develop the children’s understanding and communication.
The children were curious and engaged, using their senses to touch, smell and observe the peppers. Many children enjoyed feeling the different textures and looking at the bright colours, and some were keen to taste them too.
As you can see, the children really enjoyed eating the peppers - by the time we took the photograph most of them were already gone!
