Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message

It has been another wonderful week at Muriel Green. The babies thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the splash park where they were able to experience the water on their toes and through their fingers, great to enjoy on such hot days. Some of the older children went to the local coffee shop which provided a valuable opportunity to practice community awareness and social skills.

We were able to celebrate World Honey Bee day by exploring the important role bees play in our environment through engaging activities and discussions, there has also been some activities around ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ , looking at the changes from caterpillar to butterfly. The children have also made the most of our outdoor spaces, enjoying a wide range of physical play; balancing, throwing, catching, there have even been some football matches in the garden this week.

The building work is continuing with real progress being made. We thank you all for your patience and support during this time.

Have a lovely weekend!

Nursery school   success of the week

The  children in Nursery school, have been busy with lots of cooking activities in the room. Last week, they joined in with story-related support inspired by our Book of the Week, Enormous Pumpkin and made soup, it was amazing to see their creativity and enthusiasm. This week, the children decided to make tasty flapjacks. It was fantastic to see them talk about ingredients and measurements, then each take a turn to carefully add and mix. Cooking helps develop important maths skills and coordination, as well as speaking and listening.

This supports the outcomes of building confidence and independence through practical play, while strengthening Communication & Language, Mathematics, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
