Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had a wonderful week at Muriel Green Nursery, with the children making the most of our beautiful garden. Whether they’ve been digging, planting, or exploring, it’s been a joy to watch them thrive outdoors, building confidence and curiosity with every new discovery.
We are also very pleased to share that WRAP have had an exciting opportunity over the last few weeks with a visiting sports coach. The children are thoroughly enjoying learning new physical skills, practising ball control, and exploring how to move in different ways. These sessions not only help to develop their coordination and teamwork, but also boost their confidence and love of being active.
We would also like to invite the children to wear turquoise, yellow or any shade of blue next week to help us celebrate Deaf Awareness Week 2026.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping to make our nursery a welcoming and lively community for all.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!

BooK & Rhyme of the week
Rhyme of the Week: Hickory Dickory Dock
Children will enjoy joining in with this rhyme, watching the mouse run up and down the clock and anticipating the “tick tock” moments.
Ideas for Home:
Sing the rhyme together and take turns being the “mouse” or making the “tick tock” sounds. Pausing at key moments can encourage your child to look, respond and join in. Simple turn-taking games and shared rhymes help build attention, connection and early interaction skills.

Focus Skill:
We are focusing on social communication and interaction, developing shared attention, turn-taking and early peer interaction through structured play and adult modelling.
Success Story of the Week!
This week in Willow Room the children have really enjoyed exploring the patio space and accessing a range of exciting activities. They spent time in the sand area with the dinosaurs, building small worlds and acting out stories together (Communication and Language, Expressive Arts and Design). The water play and shaving foam in the tuff tray were very popular, giving the children lots of opportunities to explore textures, pour, scoop and experiment (Understanding the World, Physical Development). It has been lovely to see their confidence grow as they make choices, share resources and play alongside their friends.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
