Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful week we have had at nursery!
On Tuesday, the children thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Ark Farm. It was a joy to watch them meet and interact with the animals, with many showing great bravery and confidence as they gently stroked and cared for them. Experiences like these provide valuable opportunities for children to develop curiosity, empathy and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
We were also delighted to welcome so many special male figures in our children's lives to our Father's Day FUDGE Breakfast. It was lovely to see fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other important family members spending time together, enjoying breakfast and sharing in the children's nursery experiences. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

We are taking a focus this week on understanding and supporting the children to be able to respond to simple questions when in a familiar context. Birch Room
Book & Rhyme of the week
Rhyme of the Week:
A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea – Children will enjoy joining in with the actions and repetitive words, building confidence through movement, rhythm and participation.
Focus Skill:
We are focusing on fine motor skills and mark making, developing fine motor imitation, perseverance, grasp and early mark-making skills through a range of engaging activities.
Ideas for Home:
Encourage your child to explore different mark-making tools such as crayons, chalks, paintbrushes or pencils. Activities like threading, peg boards, playdough and picking up small objects can also help strengthen hand muscles and improve coordination. Praise your child for having a go and persevering, as confidence and control develop through regular practice and exploration.
Success Story of the Week!
This week in Conker Room, the children really enjoyed a fun shaving foam activity linked to 5 Currant Buns. We sang the rhyme together and used swatters to splat each bun, which the children found very exciting and funny. They then explored spreading the foam across the table with their hands. A few children were a little reluctant at first, but with gentle encouragement they watched their friends and began to join in.
One child used a train to make track marks in the foam, which inspired others to try the same. Another child loved spreading the foam over a dinosaur. It was lovely to see the children growing in confidence, using their imaginations and exploring in their own way.

signs of the week

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
