Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful week we have had at Muriel Green Nursery! The garden has been buzzing with excitement as the children explored our newly installed climbing equipment. It has been such a joy to see so many eager faces, big smiles, and adventurous spirits as the children challenged themselves and supported one another to try something new. The laughter and positive encouragement from friends truly captured the supportive, family atmosphere we value so highly.
We were also delighted to welcome the inspirational women in our children’s lives for a very special “pamper” session this week. Thank you to all who came in and spent time with us; it was heart-warming to see the children proudly share this moment with you. Your presence means so much to the children and to us as a nursery community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for helping us make Muriel Green a wonderful place for your children to learn and grow. We look forward to many more memorable moments together!
Warm wishes,

Conker Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Next week our book of the week will continue to be Come on, Daisy!. We will keep revisiting the story so children can become really familiar with the characters and what happens next. This supports Communication and Language and Literacy, as children join in with repeated phrases, talk about the pictures and begin to retell parts of the story in their own words. We will also use the book to think about listening to our grown-ups and staying safe, which links to Personal, Social and Emotional Development in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our Keywords are Close, Far and Bouncy

Our Rhyme this week is "If you're happy and you know it"

Our Rhyme this week is "Old Duke of York"

Home Learning: Using Now and Next
One of the ways we support children with transitions at nursery is by using “Now and Next.” This helps children understand what is happening in the moment and prepares them for what will happen next.
For example, we might say “ball now, nappy next”. Using clear and simple language like this helps children feel more secure and supports their understanding of daily routines.
For some children we also support this with simple signs (BSL) alongside the words, which helps reinforce understanding and communication.
If possible, you may like to try using “Now and Next” at home as well. Using the same approach both at nursery and at home can really help children build confidence and understand what to expect throughout the day.

Birch Room
Book & Rhyme of the week
Focus Skill:
We are focusing on independence, self-help and daily living skills, supporting children with routines such as eating, toileting readiness, regulation and developing functional independence.
Ideas for Home:
Encourage your child to take part in small everyday tasks such as helping with snack time, washing hands, or tidying toys away. Offering simple choices and predictable routines can help build confidence and independence. Give your child time to try things themselves and celebrate their efforts as they develop these important daily skills.
Rhyme of the Week: Five Currant Buns
Children will enjoy joining in with this counting rhyme, pretending to buy buns from the shop and using actions and repetition to support engagement.

Success Story of the Week!
This week in Conker Room we explored strawberries as our focus food. The children experimented with different ways of eating them: biting into freshly washed strawberries, mashing them and spreading them on oat cakes, and finally helping to make shortbread biscuits topped with sliced strawberries. This supported Understanding the World as we talked about where food comes from, and encouraged Healthy Eating within Personal, Social and Emotional Development. The mixing, mashing and spreading also developed fine motor skills linked to Physical Development, while shared cooking and tasting times supported Communication and Language and social skills.
