Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
It has been a very hot week at Muriel Green this week, we have been able to use the different parts of the garden at different times chasing the shade with hats, sun cream and plenty of water play. We have had a lot of fun with sensory activities, developing our important life skills at mealtimes and dressing ourselves, cooking some delicious pizza, working a lot at our mathematical thinking; how many places at the table, how many plates do we need, culminating in a number hunt in the garden.
The children have been very adaptable around the air conditioning installation, moving between different rooms, both Conker and Willow Room are now finished, and work starts on the nursery classroom on Monday.
May we remind you that access to the nursery is via the garden gate. This will be open from 7.45am until 8.40am, please could parents try whenever possible to arrive during these times as it is less disruptive for the children. after 8.40am parents and carers will need to ring the doorbell on the gate, this may result in a short wait as we come from the office.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Next week, we will carry on with our story The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. The children will use their creative mind to explore different resources and represent the characters/settings in the story. We will also look at different animals homes and talk about their differing characteristics. This will support their interests and the knowledge of the world around them.
We will also keep on observing the growth and metamorphosis of our 5 caterpillars which arrived this week.

Nursery school success of the week
What a magical and inspiring week we have had in the Conker Room, bringing our learning to life through The Very Hungry Caterpillar! To make our story even more memorable, we welcomed real caterpillars into our classroom, giving the children the exciting opportunity to observe the life cycle up close and first hand.
Each day was filled with anticipation as the children eagerly checked on the caterpillars, delighted to discover how much they had grown and changed. Their excitement and curiosity sparked many wonderful discussions as they shared their observations and predictions.
This engaging experience supports several key Early Years Foundation Stage outcomes, particularly Understanding the World, as children explore growth, change, and the natural world. It also enhances Communication and Language through rich conversations and descriptive vocabulary, while promoting Personal, Social and Emotional Development as the children work together to care for and learn about our tiny visitors. The awe and wonder shown throughout the week have made this a truly memorable learning experience for everyone.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
