Head of school message
This week the children have been enjoying a range of exciting sensory exploration activities across the setting. Through exploring different textures, sounds and sensory experiences, the children have been developing their curiosity, creativity and confidence while learning about the world around them. These experiences also support the development of their communication, language and physical skills.
The children have had lots of fun practicing different dance skills, through music, movement and rhythm the children have been exploring different ways to move their bodies. Dancing provides wonderful opportunities for children to build confidence, express their feelings and enjoy being active together
We have also been focusing on practising independence skills; encouraging the children to have a go at putting on their own socks and shoes, feeding themselves or making choices during play, every small step is an important achievement.
We are proud of the children’s enthusiasm and growing independence and thank you for your continued support in helping us build these important skills both at nursery and at home.
A gentle reminder to our Nursery School families whose children will be starting Reception in September 2027. Primary school open days are now taking place, and the application process for Reception places is open. Being silly with children is much more than just having fun. In an EYFS setting, playful interactions, funny faces, silly voices and laughter can support children's development and strengthen relationships with adults. Sometimes, making a funny face, singing a silly song or pretending to be a dinosaur is exactly what helps a child feel connected to you.
The key is to be playful while remaining sensitive to the child's feelings, respecting their boundaries

Success Story of the Week!
The children in Acorn Room had a wonderful time visiting St Albans Library, where they enjoyed exploring books, sharing stories and experiencing the world around them. During our visit, the children spent time looking at books together, exploring colourful pictures and sharing special moments as they turned the pages. This provided lovely opportunities to develop their communication and language skills, spark curiosity and encourage a love of books and reading.
Our adventure continued as we explored the local community. The children had the opportunity to experience a variety of environmental sounds, including different vehicles, the busy market and members of the public. They listened carefully to the different noises, helping them to become more aware of the sounds in their surroundings.
We are so proud of the children in Acorn Room for their curiosity, engagement and enthusiasm throughout our little adventure. We look forward to many more opportunities to explore, discover and learn together!

sign of the Week

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
