Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message

Dear parents and carers ,We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and carers who have visited nursery over this week to share their passions, interests and professions with the children. These experiences have been incredibly valuable, helping to broaden children's understanding of the world around them and inspiring curiosity about the many different roles and talents people have.

The children were fascinated by your presentations and demonstrations, asking thoughtful questions and making connections to their own experiences. Staff have also thoroughly enjoyed learning alongside the children. Your willingness to share your time, knowledge and enthusiasm has made a genuine and lasting impact on our nursery community, and we are very grateful for your support.

As we continue to enjoy the warmer weather, please ensure that children attend nursery in suitable footwear. Open-toe sandals are not permitted as they do not provide adequate protection during outdoor play, climbing and other physical activities. Closed-toe shoes or sandals that fully cover and protect children's feet are the safest option for nursery.

We would also like to kindly remind all parents and visitors that the disabled parking bays are reserved for families and visitors who hold a valid Blue Badge. We are fortunate to support several families who rely on these spaces to access nursery safely and comfortably.

Even if you are only stopping briefly, please do not park in these bays unless you are entitled to use them. Your consideration helps ensure that those who genuinely need these spaces can access them when required. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain an inclusive and accessible environment for all members of our community.

Birch Room
Book & Rhyme of the week

Rhyme of the Week:

Down in the Jungle – Children will enjoy joining in with animal actions, sounds and movements as they explore this energetic and engaging rhyme.

Ideas for Home:

Sing the rhyme together and encourage your child to copy the different animal movements and sounds. Using familiar songs, visual cues and predictable routines at home can help children feel secure and understand what is happening next. You could also build in short calming breaks throughout the day, using favourite sensory activities to help your child regulate and re-engage.

Focus Skill:
We are focusing on sensory exploration and regulation, supporting children to remain engaged, regulate their bodies and emotions, and increasingly understand and anticipate familiar nursery routines using consistent visual, sensory and communication supports.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
