Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message
Another lovely week comes to an end at Muriel Green. After the recent heatwave the children have loved making the most of the cooler, rainy weather. There has been lots of jumping in puddles, exploring the rain and enjoying the much fresher air.
There has been opportunities for them to practice their skills for the Sports Day next week; throwing and catching, balancing, building their core strength with stretching and reaching. We hope as many families as possible will join us next Thursday 27th August at 2.30pm for our fun sports activities afternoon.
Our cooking activities have been a great success with children getting involved in making delicious biscuits linked to their current themes of The Gruffalo and space. These activities have provided wonderful opportunities for the children to develop their independence, practice measuring and mixing, and talk about the stories and topics they have explored.
It has been lovely to see the children learning through play, getting involved and enjoying new experiences together.
The air conditioning installation is nearly complete and the children have been able to take advantage of it in Conker and Willow Rooms at the start of the week when the weather was much warmer, what a treat, it should all be complete for when everyone returns from the holidays.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Next week in Conker room, we will start reading the quirky story of Kipper's Toybox by Mick Inkpen. The children will follow Kipper as he tries to discover what happened to his toybox. A mystery to be solved. This engaging story will promote children's curiosity and pick their interest. We will copy Kipper and count objects around us in various situations which will support their Mathematical development, and we will also try to guess what could be happening next.

Nursery school success of the week
This week in Acorn Room, we have been exploring our Book of the Week, Find Spot at the Beach! 🏖️
We created our very own beach experience for the children to explore. The Rice Krispies represented the warm, sandy beach, while blue and purple scarves represented the water. The children were provided with a variety of spoons and tools to scoop, explore and transport the Rice Krispies from one container to another.
The children were engaged for a long period of time, showing lots of curiosity and enjoyment as they explored the different textures and resources. We modelled how to scoop and transport the Rice Krispies between containers, and it was wonderful to see the children watching closely before having a go themselves. They copied the actions really well and were delighted with their success! 🥄
Of course, some of our children also discovered the best part of the activity — the Rice Krispies were very tasty too! 😋
It was lovely to see the children sharing the resources, playing alongside one another and enjoying the experience together. They demonstrated growing confidence and independence as they explored the different materials in their own way.
Most importantly, this was a particularly special experience for our new settling babies. Seeing them become comfortable in their new environment, engage with the resources and enjoy being alongside their friends was a real success. ❤️

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
