Head of school message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another lovely week at Muriel Green, with plenty of excitement, exploration and learning across the nursery. A particular highlight this week was our Nursery School children enjoying a very special ballet lesson with a real ballerina! The children had a wonderful time exploring different movements, practising their balance and coordination and expressing themselves through dance. It was a fantastic opportunity to try something new, build confidence and experience the joy of movement.
As we reach half term, we would like to wish those Nursery School children and families who are taking a break a lovely week off. We hope you enjoy some time together, whether that means heading off on adventures or simply enjoying a slower pace for a few days.
For our children continuing with us in Daycare and WRAP, we look forward to another busy week of fun and discovery. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and we look forward to welcoming our Nursery School children back after the break!

Home Learning: We are exploring the story Where’s Spot?
Can your support your child’s learning at home by playing simple peekaboo games with a favourite toy or blanket.
Hide the toy under a cloth and ask, “Where’s Spot?” Pause for a moment before revealing the toy and saying, “There he is!” Your child may show anticipation by smiling, reaching, looking towards the hiding place, making sounds or moving excitedly.
Repeating this game helps your child develop anticipation, attention, turn-taking and early communication skills as they begin to understand what might happen next.

Success Story of the Week!
The children in Willow Room had a fantastic time using their imagination and working together to build their very own trackless train. They took on different roles, including train operator, conductor, and ticket vendor, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication skills. Their journey began with a trip to London Luton Airport, where they helped their friends catch a plane, before transforming their train into a high-speed express heading all the way to London. It was a wonderful day filled with creativity, role play, and adventure!
Early Years Outcomes: Through this exciting play experience, the children developed their communication and language skills by engaging in conversations and role-play scenarios. They strengthened their personal, social and emotional development by cooperating with their peers, sharing ideas, and taking turns in different roles. The activity also supported their understanding of the world as they explored different forms of transport and places, while encouraging imaginative thinking and storytelling through expressive arts and design.

sign of the Week

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
