Head of school / Day Care Manager 's message

Dear Parent

We've had a wonderful week at nursery filled with fun, learning, and laughter. The children have enjoyed exploring new activities, playing together, and sharing stories about their favourite things. It's been lovely to see everyone working as a team and celebrating each other's achievements. Looking ahead, we’re all very excited for World Book Day Thursday 5th March, where children will get to share cherished stories with their friends! Please look out for the email inviting family members into the setting to share their favourite story with the children. This was so successful last year, we had so many ‘secret storytellers’ and would love as many to join us this year. We’re also starting to prepare  for our MADGE afternoon 2.30pm to 5.30pm to celebrate Mother's Day, recognising the important people in our lives. We can’t wait for another busy and joyful week!

Book & Rhyme of the week

Focus Skill:

We are focusing on physical development and mobility, supporting safe movement, balance, stepping, body awareness and physical anticipation through playful action games.

Ideas for Home:

Sing Five Little Ducks together and encourage your child to waddle, step and move like the ducks. You could play simple movement games such as walking along a line, stepping over cushions or marching to the rhythm. These playful physical challenges help build balance, coordination and confidence in moving their body safely.

Rhyme of the Week: Five little Ducks
Five Little Ducks – Children will join in with actions and counting as the ducks go out to play and waddle back, using whole-body movements and anticipation.

Success Story of the Week!

Our success of the week: Going for a walk to the park

On Wednesday, All Acorn Room enjoyed a lovely trip to the park with the children. We visited the ducks by the water, watching them paddle and waddle along the edge, which everyone found very exciting. We also watched people gliding their electric boats across the water, listening carefully to the different sounds and talking about what we could see. It was a calm, happy outing filled with fresh air, nature and plenty of smiles.

EYFS links: Communication & Language (talking about what we saw), Understanding the World (observing animals and the environment), Personal, Social & Emotional Development (sharing experiences together)
