Dear Parents and Carers, What a hot week it has been! The recent heatwave has certainly brought its challenges, but I have been incredibly proud of how our staff team has adapted to ensure the children continued to enjoy fun, engaging and meaningful experiences whilst staying as cool and comfortable as possible.
Across the nursery, children have delighted in a wide range of water-based activities, both indoors and outdoors. From water investigations and sensory play to splashing, pouring and exploring, the staff have embraced the warm weather and created exciting opportunities for learning through play. It has been wonderful to see so much laughter, curiosity and enjoyment despite the soaring temperatures.
I would also like to thank our dedicated team for their flexibility and commitment throughout the week. We know that periods of extreme weather can be challenging for families, and we were delighted that we were able to remain open and continue supporting our children and families throughout the heatwave.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and, if the sunshine continues, that you have the opportunity to enjoy it safely with your families.

Book & Rhyme of the week
Rhyme of the Week:
Old MacDonald Had a Farm – Children will enjoy joining in with the animal sounds, actions and repetitive phrases as they share the rhyme together.
Ideas for Home:
Sing the rhyme together and take turns choosing different animals and making their sounds. Encourage your child to copy actions, look towards others and join in at their own pace. Simple turn-taking games and shared singing experiences help build confidence in interacting and communicating with others.
Focus Skill:
We are focusing on social communication and interaction, developing shared attention, reciprocal interactions, turn-taking and enjoyment of playing alongside and with others.
success of the week
We are incredibly proud of all our little learners in the Acorn room! Despite the recent warm weather, the children have remained happy, engaged, and full of curiosity. We have been keeping busy with wonderful activities that have truly brought out their brilliance.
This week, we have been focusing on key developmental goals through our play, specifically supporting:
-
Communication and Language: Expressing their thoughts and feelings during our 'wow' moments.
-
Physical Development: Developing their fine motor control through hands-on, sensory exploration.
-
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: Building resilience and independence as they navigate their learning environment.
Watching the children adapt and thrive is what we love most at Muriel Green; it is a joy to see them celebrating being unique every single day.

All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message or emailing admin@murielgreen.herts.sch.uk, We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this. Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
