Head of school message

There are many exciting things happening across our school, and I’m delighted to share a few updates with you. We are currently investing in the patio area outside the Conker and Willow Rooms. This space is being transformed with new resources and outdoor furniture to create an inspiring outside area for our younger children. These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to enriching our learning environments both inside and out.

In Nursery School children we are planning for children who will be transitioning to primary school in September.  We have created packs for all children where mark making is a useful developmental focus. For those going into reception classes we have included some ideas for starting to attempt name writing and have created a short recorded presentation for you as parents/carers with information on developmental expectations, what we do at school and how you can support at home.

For those of you having a half term break-enjoy! And we look forward to seeing many of you next week in session.

BIRCH rOOM
Book & Rhyme of the week

Owl Babies.PNG

After half term, Birch Room will be joining Nursery School in exploring the beloved children’s book Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. The story follows three baby owls—Sarah, Percy, and Bill—as they worry about their missing mother, only to be comforted when she returns. To make the story engaging for our children, we will be using a slightly shorter version of the text, brought to life through a sensory story. A sensory story uses a combination of words and rich sensory experiences—such as textures, sounds, scents, and visual elements—to help children connect with the narrative in a meaningful way.

Our rhyme of the week is "Baa Baa Black Sheep"

Home Learning:  Colours

We have been enjoying colours in Birch Room this week. At home if you have paint, you could mix them or talk about the different colours you see in your house or in the environment.

Success Story of the Week!

We are thrilled to share this week's success aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage outcomes. The children were incredibly excited to witness the tree being cut down and observe the fascinating process of decking installation. This hands-on experience captivated their attention and sparked engaging discussions about nature, safety, and the construction process.

Aligned with the Understanding the World area of learning in the EYFS framework, this experience provided opportunities for the children to broaden their vocabulary and understanding of the environment and community roles. .

By observing and interacting with real-world events, the children enhanced their communication and language skills while promoting personal, social, and emotional development by working together in discussions.

This enriching experience supports the curriculum's goal of preparing children to connect their learning to everyday life.

Thank you for supporting our dynamic and engaging learning environment.
