Head of school message

We are delighted to share the spring term parent/carer survey results with you. We have attached a summary of the feedback for both Nursery School and Day care. We would like to thank you again for taking the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts. We hope that you will see from the summary that your voice is valued and does impact on what we do. Our first action was to create a physical communication board in the reception area. We are currently considering how we can replicate this outside Nursery School-watch this space...

Reminders

  • It is essential for your child/children to have a sun hat in school every day for the rest of the term. Please ensure that their name is clearly written somewhere in the hat so that they can be easily identified. 

  • Many of our Nursery School children will be moving onto primary schools in September. Now is a good time to get into the routine of arriving on time as Primary Schools monitor punctuality very stringently. It also ensures that your child can fully participate in all sessions we provide over the summer.

There is a sheet at reception for your to sign, so we how many grandparents we will be excepting.

Home Learning: Shape Hunt​

Let’s go on a shape hunt around the house or outside. Look for things that are circles, like a plate or a clock. Try to find squares, like a cushion or a window. Look for triangles too, maybe on a sign or in a puzzle. Talk about the shapes you see together. Take your time and have fun while your child explores and learns through play.

Take a look at the beds in your home with your child. You could count how many beds/pillows that are, or discuss the colours or textures of the sheets or blankets. If you would like to , we would love if you would sent in a picture of our child's bed for a show and tell activity.

Home Learning:  Numbers

This week, we're focusing on discovering numbers in our environment, and we'd love your help to continue this at home or on outings. Here's a simple activity you can try. Encourage your child to find numbers 1 to 6 around your home or while out and about. Look on doors, clocks, in books, or on signs. This activity will enhance their number recognition skills and awareness of numbers in everyday life.

This week in our early years setting, we're excited to introduce the book "Where's Mrs Doctor?" by Ingela P. Arrhenius to the children. Home Learning:  Stacking

This week, we're exploring the concept of stacking. Stacking is not only  Here are a few home learning ideas to try:

  1. Cup Stacking: Use plastic cups to create towers or patterns. How high can they stack them before it topples?

  2. Nature Stacking: On a walk, gather natural items like stones or leaves and see how they can be stacked or arranged creatively.

These activities promote problem-solving and hand-eye coordination.

Success Story of the Week!

We're delighted to share our Success of the Week! The children have truly enjoyed using the paint rollers and trays with water in the garden. This activity not only sparked their creativity but also allowed them to explore different textures and colours in an outdoor environment.

The joy and enthusiasm were evident as they rolled water, expressing themselves freely and collaboratively. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to develop their motor skills and engage in imaginative play.
