Head of school message
This week we have started the duckling and chick experience onsite! The chicks hatched so quickly and it won't be long before we see some ducklings. At Muriel Green Nursery School we prioritise and fund a wide range of rich, hands-on learning opportunities as we believe that all of our children should access rich experiences and find out about the world around them. The ducklings are housed in the nursery classroom but if you want to see the chicks in action do pop into reception area with your child. We’re also looking forward to welcoming a visiting farm later in the term. And… we’ve got something (non-animal based but extra special) planned for the children towards the end of the summer term — details coming soon, so watch this space!
Grandparents Day:
We are really looking forward to welcoming lots of Grandparents into see their grandchild/ren in action! If your family have a grandparent who would like to take part please sign up with Priscilla! Details can be found on the communication board in reception.

We are thrilled to continue our Book of the Week, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," for a second week! The children have been captivated by its rhythmic and adventurous story, enhancing their imagination and language skills. This book aligns perfectly with the Early Years Statutory Framework, promoting interactive storytelling and sensory exploration.
Our Keywords are "Over", "Under", and "Through".

Home Learning: Practising pouring a drink
Let your child practise pouring with a small jug and cup. Sit together at a table or on the floor with a tray to catch spills. Show them how to hold the jug in one hand and the cup in the other, then slowly pour water.
Make it fun by using coloured water or adding toy cups!
This helps build hand strength, coordination, and independence.
Don’t worry about spills—they’re part of learning!

We are pleased to share that this week’s book of the week is ‘Car, Car, Truck, Jeep’. This fun, rhyming story takes children on a journey through busy roads filled with all kinds of vehicles like cars, trucks, jeeps, and even diggers! It encourages children to join in with the rhythm and spot the different types of transport, supporting language development and early literacy skills.

Our Rhyme this week is "Leo the Lion".

Home Learning:
Can you practice stacking?
Try using soft blocks, plastic cups, or even empty food containers. Sit on the floor together and show them how to build a little tower—one block at a time. Count out loud as you go to sneak in some early maths!
Let them knock it down and start again—it’s all part of the fun. This simple game helps build their coordination, thinking skills, and confidence.

Home Learning: Growth
We have been looking after eggs in Nursery room and learning about how the ducklings hatch and grow. Think about how we grow and change. Have a look at some baby photos and talk about what you looked like when you were a baby and how you have grown and changed. What could you do when you were a baby? What can you do now? You could also look at baby photos of other family members or pets and talk about what you notice.
