Head of school message
We've had a fantastic week here at school, filled with inspiring visits from many of you! Thank you to all the parents and carers who came in to share your professions and passions with the children. From fascinating talks about working in construction, space, and electricity, to personal stories about baking, skiing, each visit has enriched the children's understanding of the world around them. These visits offer our children a valuable glimpse into a wide range of careers and hobbies that we hope will inspire them and provide a talking point. Thank you again!

BIRCH rOOM
Book & Rhyme of the week

For the next three weeks in Birch Room, our focus book will be Somebody Swallowed Stanley by Sarah Roberts. To deepen the children’s understanding and engagement, we will use a sensory story experience alongside the reading. This hands-on approach allows the children to explore the story through touch, smell, sound, and movement. They will have the chance to feel slippery shaving foam, smell fresh oranges and salty water, hear bubbling and gulping sounds, and even swirl water like Stanley’s journey through the body. This immersive experience helps bring the story to life and makes learning both fun and memorable.

Home Learning: Ball Skills
We will be using balls in our group time this week. Spend some time with your child throwing, catching, rolling and bouncing balls. This can be done inside with a softer ball.
Success Story of the Week!
This week in Birch Room, the children have been absolutely captivated by our sensory story of Owl Babies! They’ve loved exploring the story through exciting props like soft feathers, crunchy leaves, real twigs, a tree trunk, and even owl and mouse puppets. The props encouraged rich language skills as the children described sounds and actions, which has been vital in developing their vocabulary and communication abilities.
These hands-on elements brought the tale to life, encouraging imaginative play, rich language, and lots of giggles. It’s been a real hoot!
