Head of school message
It’s been an exciting week here at Muriel Green! Last Friday all staff across the Federation took part in a valuable training session focused on sustainability in the early years. The session was packed with practical ideas to help our youngest learners understand the importance of caring for the environment—and to empower them to become future influencers and innovators in sustainable living.
This week, we’ve already begun putting some of those ideas into action. We were thrilled to take delivery of a composting wormery and a mushroom-growing kit! The children have shown great enthusiasm and responsibility in caring for our new wriggly friends, and you can spot the mushrooms proudly growing in the foyer area. With a bit of patience and care, we’re hoping to see them flourish in the coming weeks.
Over the coming terms we will be inrtoducing and exploring, hands-on ways to nurture a love for our planet.

The children enthusiastically used their senses to explore a variety of textures and smells. A particular highlight was their time in our Potion Lab, where they experimented foam, herbs and coloured water. The children delighted in the tangy scent and feel of the lemon-infused water, showcasing incredible curiosity and engagement.
